Rene
Denfeld is the 32 year-old author of The New
Victorians: A Young Woman's Challenge to the
Old
Feminist Order (Warner 1995) and Kill The Body,
The Head Will Fall: A Closer Look at Women, Violence
and Aggression (Warner 1997). The New Victorians
was an international bestseller and sparked controversy
for its critique of modern feminism. In addition
to writing, Rene Denfeld is an amateur boxer
who has won a Golden Gloves title. Her second
book,
Kill The Body, The Head Will Fall, was inspired
by her experiences boxing. It examines how cultural
attitudes about women and aggression affect our
achievements in sports, business and life. She
lives in Portland, Oregon.
Rene Denfeld is available
to speak on current feminism and younger women's
perspectives on sexuality,
freedom of speech, and other concerns--especially
economic needs, such as child care. She can
discuss feminist sexual morality, the campaign
against
pornography and other trends, and the alienation
of young and working women from the cause.
She speaks clearly and non- academically, from
the
standpoint of a younger working woman with
adamantly feminist beliefs.
