Barbara Carrellas is an author, lecturer, sex educator and theatre artist, best known for her sexually and spiritually explicit work.
Barbara is the author of Urban Tantra: Sacred Sex for the Twenty First Century and Luxurious Loving: Tantric Inspirations for Passion and Pleasure. She is the founder of Urban Tantra®, an approach to sacred sexuality that adapts and blends conscious sexuality practices from Tantra to S/M, and the co-founder of Erotic Awakening, a pioneering series of workshops focusing on the physical, spiritual and healing powers of sex. Barbara was named Best Tantric Sex Seminar Leader in New York City by Time Out/NY Magazine for her Urban Tantra® workshops.
Barbara has been featured in the videos Selfloving, The Sluts & Goddesses Video Workshop, Zen Pussy, Annie Sprinkle's Amazing World Of Orgasm, in the film Sacred Sex, on Australian television's Sex/Life, in Sky Channel's (U.K.) documentary Sex in America, and in several episodes of the HBO television special Real Sex.
Barbara has also had a long and diverse theatrical career. She has managed and produced shows both on and off Broadway including "NINE" (Tony Award: Best Musical), Long Day's Journey Into Night and Ah! Wilderness starring Colleen Dewhurst and Jason Robards, Meet Me In St. Louis, Cloud Nine, A Coupla White Chicks Sitting Around Talking, Sight Unseen, Personals, and Harold Prince's Grandchild Of Kings, as well as the work of performances artists Annie Sprinkle, Tim Miller, John Epperson (Lypsinka,) Penny Arcade, Kate Bornstein, Clinton Leupp (Miss Coco,) Shelley Mars and Diane Torr. She directed the Australian national tour of Annie Sprinkle's Post Porn Modernist and collaborated with Annie Sprinkle and Linda Montano on the creation of MetamorphoSex, a new/ancient vision of female sexuality in theatrical from. With Kate Bornstein, she wrote and performed Too Tall Blondes Do Sex, Death and Gender and Too Tall Blondes in LOVE.
